I had the pleasure of attending the NJLA's 2019 Convention hosted at the Harrah's Resort in Atlantic City on May 29 - 31. The theme was "Engage & Inspire". I have to say I left the conference overflowing with inspiration. It's clear there is a new movement blossoming...Reaching people in the community and making the library a place where inspiration is found through engaging with one another, reading and attending educational programs.
I attended several classes, met new friends/contacts and learned a great deal about the exciting activities happening in some of New Jersey's libraries. I was very impressed with the State Library Awards honorees who won awards for creating multicultural programs for their communities. Some of New Jersey's libraries are alive and thriving!
On a more serious note, it was agreed finding a job in the library industry is currently a difficult task, but so many people encouraged me not to give up! I'm determined more than ever to find a great librarian job and complete my studies in LIS. I'm excited about the future of the library!
